Background
My first language is English. I studied German in high school and chose German studies as my college major. After graduation I spent a year in Germany and became a fluent speaker during that time. I subsequently worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service at the U.S. Embassy, Bonn for two and a half years. In 2004 I earned a master’s degree in Germanic Languages (concentration in linguistics).
I started translating historical documents in 1977, beginning with an 1868 journal article. Completing a course in transcription of old German script has enabled me to translate a number of handwritten letters and documents.
Since receiving the M.A. in Germanic Languages, I have completed a number of translation projects, including: · nonfiction book · master’s thesis · 18th and 19th century Moravian and other historical documents · personal letters and memoirs · family records · medical article
